6 months

Our baby had his 6-month check up today. Stats are as follows:

Weight: 20 pounds 6 ounces (90%)
Length: 27 1/2 inches (85%)
Head Circumference: 44.1 (60%)

Izaiah is growing very quickly which is makes me a little sad, but I am very thankful for his wonderful health. The physician lifted Izaiah while examining him in an upright position and Izaiah proceeded to jump and she mentioned that he was certainly a strong baby. Poor baby got four shots today. He managed to not cry through the first shot, but then it all went down hill after that. He curled his bottom lip and the tears came down his face and all I wanted to do was just hold him. I tried to remain strong for him, but it was really killing me inside watching him. I wanted to stop the nurse and pick Izaiah up and take him home. We don’t like shots!

Rolling and teething

Izaiah is growing so fast. It is all so amazing and sad at the same time. My baby is changing so fast right before my eyes. It is a little unfair that their infant stage goes by so quickly. We have some news to share. We discovered some pearly whites on our baby. That’s right there are two teeth making their debut. This explains the blowouts and the constant drooling. Every time we pick up Izaiah all he wants to do is grab unto our hands and nibble on our fingers, chin, or arms. He also chews on all of his toys and if he is not wearing a bib you know that you will need to change his shirt because it will be soaked in a matter of minutes.

Our new routine

This is my first week back at work and Izaiah’s first week at daycare… I was a little sad to leave my baby already. But things have gone pretty well this week and Izaiah seems to be enjoying his teachers and new baby friends. I shed a few tears the first day, but Izaiah was all smiles when I dropped him off and that is the image that kept me going all day. I love my little boy!
Great news… Izaak is potty training and doing so well! He started having dry pull-ups last week and we decided to keep him in big boy underwear throughout the weekend. He does wear pull-ups at night for bedtime but other than that he is super excited to be in his underwear. I tend to worry a little whenever we are away from home, but he has managed to keep himself dry and I try to carry an extra set of clothes just incase. He has had a few accidents, especially when it comes to poop (he likes to hide whenever he has to go #2 so we knew this would be a challenge), but overall he has done great. Yesterday was his first day with no accidents at all and we just had to go out and celebrate so we went out for dinner at McAlister’s (this also felt like a reward for mami because it meant she did not have to cook) and now Izaak is the proud owner of Thomas the Train big boy underwear! Trust me this is a big deal for my little boy. His life is so much happier when you mention Thomas the Train anything. A great milestone for my big boy, hooray! Papi and mami are also so excited that we will not have to buy any more diapers for Izaak pretty soon… hey that is like a $50 - $60 saving a month… double hooray!

Zak and I have managed to survive this week. It has been a change now that we are both back to work and now our mornings consist of rushing around getting ourselves ready and two little boys all dressed for the day. Trust me this calls for great teamwork. Zak is Mr. Incredible usually carrying Izaiah in his car seat in one arm and his backpack and sack of lunch in the other and I am the Bag Lady carrying my purse, breast pump bag, lunch bag, Izaak’s bag with extra clothes, and Izaiah’s bottle bag. Thank goodness Izaak has learned to go down the stairs on his own because if not I would need to grow an extra set of hands for him to hold on to. By the time we set foot out of the house and get everyone in the car it feels like such an accomplishment. I know that things will get easier for us because at the moment it still feels like chaos and I would give anything to sleep a straight 8 hours.

We are definitely enjoying being a family of four and though it may be hectic it is totally worth it. It is so rewarding to see Izaak and Izaiah happy. We love them so much and they are the biggest blessings that Zak and I have received from our Heavenly Father after our union. I am eternally grateful for my husband, who is absolutely a wonderful companion and teammate in this journey and he is also a loving father to our children. He is my inspiration and the one that keeps me going. Thank you babe!

One Month

One Month

Izaiah stats:
Weight: 10 pounds 2 ounces 50 percentile
Length: 21-½ inches 25 – 50 percentile
Head circumference: 38.6 cm 50 percentile

Izaiah and I went for his first month check-up eight days after he had turned a month old… oops, this was mami’s mistake. I called the doctors office to set up the appointment two days after he had turned a month old and the earliest spot available was for the following week. Everything went well and our baby is doing great.

Waiting and waiting

I am a little anxious for baby Izaiah to arrive. I know my due date is not until March 17th, but I am feeling like the time should be NOW! My plan has been to work until this baby arrives, but right now I am no longer in the mood to work. I want to go home to clean up, organize and I want to create more in my sewing machine. I took my machine out earlier this week and placed it on the dinning room table to work on some more cute projects for Izaiah but in reality it has not even been touched. I just have not had the energy to do anything after coming home from work and getting dinner ready. There is always something with more priority that needs to get done. To top it off today ‘s weather does not help either; lets admit a rainy day makes you want to be at home, cuddling up in some blankets and watch TV or sleep.
I went for another check-up this week and an ultrasound too. Zak, my mother and Izaak came along. We were super excited to see how our baby was doing. We did not realize that due to his current size it is not very easy to appreciate all of him with the ultrasound. The main purpose of the ultrasound at this point is mainly to measure his size and check the amount of fluid left in the placenta. The tech said that due to the measurements of the circumference of his head, size of his femur and size of his stomach the estimate for his current weight is of 7 lbs and 3 ounces. A whole pound bigger than when our Izaak was born. Whohoo!!
I also met with Dr. Lavoie and after checking my cervix she stated that I was about 1cm dilated. I was extremely excited. Dr. Lavoie said that any day now this baby would be here. Hooray! As part of the routine she handed me my chart and asked me to set-up a follow-up appointment in a week but also mentioned then that she did not think I would make it to that appointment and that she would just see me at the hospital. I was jumping for joy inside.

I want to hold my baby in my arms already!

Izaiah's Baby Shower

I have been really blessed this week. First my work baby shower, my mom arriving from Miami and now my baby shower where my wonderful family and great friends shared a special time with me. We all got together at one of my favorite places, P.F Changs.

Izaiah is a lucky boy with family and friends that love him so much already!

Jonathan was the brave man who joined all the women

My beautiful family.
Thanks to tia Jessica, Lita and mom for making sure to be here all the way from Miami, FL. It would have been the same without you guys!

Feet

"My feet are beginning to swell...
is this a sign that Izaiah is ready to come out?"

I emailed hubby with this information and he replied with: "sounds like a posting." My first thought was "funny guy" but the more I thought about it I finally decided why not? Hubby is a genius and Izaiah will probably appreciate this!
So with only four more weeks to go you can say that I am super excited to have another little angel join our family. Part of me wants to have this baby NOW, but the other says no, he needs all the time necessary in mami's incubator.
I had my appointment with Dr. Lavoie today and hubby was able to come along. I was glad that he came with because he gets to hear Izaiah's heart beat and he gets to hear that this pregnancy is going pretty well from the doctor. I know it helps me to hear this every time I go! Also hubby is the brave one to ask for an additional ultrasound. Hopefully we will have another ultrasound prior to actually holding baby Izaiah in our arms.
We are still working on some final touches before baby is here. We have his crib set up in the "boys" room. Izaak and Izaiah will be sharing rooms once Izaiah is old enough... that means when he can sleep through the night and won't wake up big brother Izaak. We thought that it would be a good idea to add this to their room so that Izaak becomes more familiar with the fact that a baby is coming! We are super excited and know that this is a great blessing from our Heavenly Father. We love each other so much and can't wait to share that love with Izaiah!

It's a little football player!

I am happy to announce that a baby boy is on his way and we are extremely excited!

We had the opportunity to go as a family to the ultrasound appointment (Izaak came along too, and did so good while we were there!) and it was just so amazing to see how well our baby was doing. Of course we did not get to find out the sex of our baby until the very end, but the whole process was just amazing.

It was a great relief to know that our baby boy is developing very well. It is estimated that our baby is now about 9 ounces in weight... so tiny right? Yet during the ultrasound all his body parts were just so perfect. It is the most amazing experience ever!

Beautiful sound

I am happy to announce that Zak and I are PREGNANT again!! Which means Izaak is going to be a Big Brother. Can you believe it? We are so excited and have been looking forward to this for a few months!

Today we had an appointment and met our new physician, Dr. Lavoie. She is great! She was able to answer all of our questions and she was very informative. I love doctors that take their time to speak to me and show that they care. So after a physical examination (not my favorite part of a doctors visit) we had the wonderful opportunity to listen to "peanuts" (that's our baby's name for now) heartbeat. It was the best part and totally made worth the uncomfortable physical exam. I am happy to know that so far peanut is healthy and that all my tests came back with flying colors! So I will continue taking my prenatal vitamins in hopes that I will have a chunky baby this time around. I love my family so much and I am super excited for this new wonderful spirit to come join us soon. I love peanut so much!

I receive an email every week with an update of how my baby may be growing from here. I am now 9 weeks along and this is how my baby looks... well according to this website:

I know it looks a little weird, but it is amazing how much it will change during a matter of weeks.
